1. What are SickKids Get Better Gifts?

SickKids Get Better Gifts are a great way to celebrate a person or an occasion with a truly unique gift. You can honour someone special and can brighten the lives of children at SickKids. These are not your usual run-of-the-mill gifts, as they can include special items to help tiny babies or distract young patients through difficult procedures. 2. Where does my money go?

Gifts made through SickKids Get Better GiftsTM are donations towards the highest priority needs of The Hospital for Sick Children. The values, services, equipment and programs described in this catalogue are representative of many of our programs.

4. Will I receive a tax receipt?

When you select a SickKids Get Better Gifts item, you are in fact donating to SickKids Foundation which makes your purchase eligible for a tax receipt. If you make a one-time donation you will receive an eTax receipt within 24 hours through email.


5. Why is giving my email address mandatory?

Providing your email address allows us to reduce our costs, eliminates tax-receipting errors and ensures that you get your electronic tax receipt within 24 hours. If you do not have an email address, please call 416.813.6166 and we will help you with your order and arrange for you to receive your tax receipt by mail.


6. For what occasion can I send a SickKids Get Better Gift?

SickKids Get Better Gifts are not just for traditional holidays but are also a perfect way to celebrate any occasion from birthdays, anniversaries or even weddings. They are also a great last minute gift, as eCards can be sent instantly. Whatever the reason, you will be bringing joy and happiness to someone beyond just the person or occasion you are honouring.


7. How secure is my information?

SickKids Foundation uses an encryption to protect the transfer of personal and financial information between your financial transactions are stored on our secure database server.  Stringent security guidelines are in place to protect this data, and its use and release.  All other questions regarding privacy and how personal information is governed and managed by SickKids Foundation can be answered by clicking on this link to our Privacy Policy.


8. What does SickKids Foundation do?

SickKids Foundation raises funds in support of SickKids mission and vision - Healthier Children. A Better World.TM

SickKids Foundation is the largest non-governmental granting agency in child health in Canada. Established in 1972, SickKids Foundation has granted over $750 million to The Hospital for Sick Children.

SickKids Foundation is the only hospital foundation to have a national program to offer research grants and educational awards to paediatric researchers across the country.  In 37 years, the program has directed more than $70 million to researchers across the country helping to strengthen Canada’s knowledge and capacity to respond to children’s health challenges and needs.


9. What kinds of cards do you have?

We offer three kinds of cards:
        - Electronic cards (eCard)
        - PDF cards that you can print
        - Hard copy paper cards
You simply type your personalized message in your eCard before sending it. The eCard will be sent immediately or on a specific date you have indicated.
Those who prefer to give a paper card to their recipients can download and print a PDF card. There is ample space for a personal message that you can handwrite in the PDF card.
Hard copy paper cards are also available, which can be mailed directly to your recipient with your personal message included.
All our cards feature a description of the gift that was selected, while our PDF and eCards also feature an image of the gift.


10. What if I don’t want to receive any cards?

We offer you the option to not receive any cards for the selection of your gifts. You can simply choose the “no cards” option offered on our site.


11. Can I get one card for multiple gifts?

No. Currently each gift receives an individual card. So, for example, if you select two gifts for one person you will be able to send two cards.


12. Can I place a message in the card?

You can write your own personalized message in any of the three card options you choose.


13. How long does it take for a paper card to arrive in the mail?

We aim to send your card 2-4 business days after the gift has been donated. From there the card is subject to standard Canada Post delivery times. Please add up to 5 days for a print card to be sent during the busy holiday period.


14. What happens if my card does not arrive?

If for some reason your card does not arrive, please send an email to getbettergifts@sickkidsfoundation.com or call 416.813.6166 and we will issue you a new card.


15. Do SickKids Get Better Gifts eCards expire?  Do they have to be retrieved within a specified period of time?

eCards are sent directly to the recipient’s inbox and will remain active as long as the recipient does not delete the email.


16. How does the monthly option work?

For those items that offer the option to select as monthly, you can choose to pay for the item with 12 equal payments instead of one lump sum. The monthly amount noted next to the gift will be charged to your credit card for 12 months starting on the 15th day of the month after you check out. Everything else will remain the same and your recipient will receive a card with your custom message and a description of the item you’ve selected.

 
17. What if I need to cancel my monthly gift?

We understand that sometimes unforeseen circumstances do occur. If you need to make any changes to your payments please contact us by phone at 416.813.7992 or 1.800.661.1083.


18. What if my payment information changes during the 12 months?

To avoid any interruption in your payments, please call us immediately if there are any changes to your payment information and we will take care of updating your records.
